You can log into ThinkTank as either an Account Holder or Guest. See the Login topic for additional details.
- Account Holders are users who have an established ThinkTank account with a username and password. Account Holders are primarily Leaders, but can also be Workspace Administrators or Thinkers, which are described below.
- Guests are invited to participate in a ThinkTank Session, but do not have established ThinkTank accounts. Leaders must allocate Session Passes for Guests to access a Session.
Your ThinkTank Workspace Administrator can assign each Account Holder one of the following ThinkTank account types, which are assigned in the Admin Console's Users screen:
- Thinker, who can join and participate in ThinkTank Sessions. Groups of Thinkers work together under the guidance of a Leader to achieve the Session objectives. Thinkers cannot create new Sessions, ThinkApps, or ThinkFlows in the Home screen. In addition, Thinkers cannot upload Sessions and ThinkApps to the Home screen.
Note: Users assigned as Thinkers are required to successfully complete the Leading Collaboration (Session Leader) training course before they can create new Sessions and ThinkApps as well as upload Sessions and ThinkApps. For more information, visit the ThinkTank website.
- Leader, who facilitates and executes a ThinkTank Session, guiding a group of Thinkers through a series of activities towards a goal or desired outcome. A Leader is also responsible for planning, designing, creating, and configuring ThinkTank Sessions. In the Home screen, a Leader can create new Sessions, Custom Rows, and ThinkFlows, as well as upload Sessions and ThinkApps. A Leader also assigns Session level and activity level settings and permissions that affect Co-Leaders and Thinkers who participate in the Session. - Workspace Administrator, who manages the ThinkTank Workspace, its configuration, users, Session Passes, and usage details. Workspace Administrators can create new users, and edit or delete ThinkTank Leader, Thinker, and Workspace Administrator information. Workspace Administrators can also create Sessions, Custom Rows, and ThinkFlows as well as upload Sessions and ThinkApps in the Home screen.
Session Roles are designated in the Thinkers tab, also known as the Roster.
Leader: Within a ThinkTank Session, there is one Leader, who is also known as the Session 'owner'. The Leader designs, creates, facilitates, and executes the ThinkTank Session as mentioned above. During a Session, the Leader can show and hide columns, activities, and tabs; assign permissions for the Session and each activity; use the Magnet; add documents and instructions to each activity, etc.
Co-Leader: Leaders can assign one or more participants as Co-Leaders in the Thinkers tab. Generally, Leaders change the status of a Thinker to a Co-Leader if an assistant is required to help navigate through the Session. For example, a Co-Leader may copy/paste data from one activity to another, navigate Thinkers through the Session, or set up additional activities while the Leader is running a Session. Co-Leaders can perform the same functions that Leaders can in a ThinkTank Session, except assign default permissions for the Session.
Note: If all participants in the Session must be Co-Leaders, only Leaders (not Co-Leaders) can modify the Default Permissions of the Session to Co-Leader.
Thinker: Thinkers participate in ThinkTank Sessions under the guidance of a Leader to achieve the Session's objectives. Generally, Thinkers add contributions, ideas, and comments to the Session. Thinkers also vote on ballot items and complete other tasks as requested by the Leader.
Leaders can configure each Session's overall default permissions that affect all activities. The Session's default permissions define how all Thinkers can view, add, and edit contributions in all activities. These Session default permissions affect all Thinkers equally, but do not affect those designated as Leader and Co-Leaders in the Session's Thinkers tab.
By default, all activities inherit permissions from the assigned Session Settings. However, Leaders and Co-Leaders can remove the check mark from the 'Inherit Permissions for this Activity' setting to adjust each activity's permissions.
Activity permissions dictate how Thinkers can view, edit, add, reorder, organize, and delete contributions in each column. Leaders and Co-Leaders can also adjust whether Thinkers can view, add, or edit documents in the Documents tab. For more details, see the Activity Settings topic.
